Recommending multiple criteria decision analysis methods with a new taxonomy-based decision support system

We present a new methodology to lead the selection of Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methods. It is implemented in Methods Selection Software (MCDA-MSS), decision support system that helps analysts answer recurring question science: “Which most suitable method (or subset MCDA methods) should be used for given Decision-Making Problem (DMP)?”. The MCDA-MSS provides guidance decision-making processes and choose among an extensive collection (>200) These are assessed according original comprehensive set problem characteristics. accounted features concern formulation, preference elicitation types information, desired model, construction recommendation. applicability has been tested on several case studies. includes capabilities (i) covering from very simple complex DMPs, (ii) offering recommendations DMPs do not match any collection, (iii) helping prioritize efforts reducing gaps description (iv) unveiling methodological mistakes occur A community-wide initiative involving experts methodology, using these methods, decision-makers receiving will contribute expansion MCDA-MSS.
